DER BLUTBRUNNEN
Mir ist, als ob ein Blutstrom mir entweicht,
der gleich dem Springquell rhythmisch seufzt und steigt.
Vergeblich such ich, in der Furcht zu sterben,
den Finger in die Wunde einzukerben.
Von hohen Häuserdämmen eingedeicht,
strömt es, bis Markt und Stadt dem Meere gleicht,
den Durst der Kreaturen zu verderben
und alles rings mit reinem Rot zu färben.
Wohl hab ich mich dem Wein, dem Rausch geweiht:
„Scheuch diesen Schreck! Er will mich niederwerfen!“ -
Doch Wein vermag das Schauen nur zu schärfen!
